Donors' generosity brings personalized care to Women and Children

Gifts to the Women & Families Fund support projects and services focused on the unique care needs of women and children Shirley Schmidt, Tim Boehmer and Mary Sullivan celebrate Mickey's birthdayat Calumet Medical Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital and the surrounding Affinity Medical Group clinics.

Long time friend of the Foundation and Disney aficionado, Shirley Schmidt helps all families on the BirthPlace unit by donating Disney coloring books, blankets, bibs, outfits and all things Disney. Each November 18, Mickey Mouse's birthday, all babies born receive a shirt or blanket and a large stuffed Mickey Mouse rattle. Grant Spotlight

Newborn Hal, a high fidelity newborn simulator with realistic anatomy, provides the opportunity for NICU staff to develop and maintain competence in many procedures such as intubation, auscultation of breath and heart sounds, and the placement of peripheral IV's, interosseous needles and umbilical catheters.

Your donations provide necessary transportation to and from appointments when it otherwise wouldn't be possible. Your donations provide necessary medication to help manage conditions for individuals who otherwise couldn't afford it.

Your donations recently supported an 80 year old woman in need of a diabetic eye exam and unable to afford it. When our patient financial counselor shared that she could receive her exam thanks to your generous donor support, she said, simply and repeatedly:

"You saved my life."
