In his honor, the Dr. C. Christopher Wallace Physician Fund was established in 1995 through a generous gift from Network Health System Inc. The fund supports costs associated with Affinity Health System physicians, Physician Assistants (PA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP) traveling to third-world countries on medical missions or to attend retreats which enable the physician to reflect upon their feelings on why they chose to go into the medical healing field.

The Dr. C. Christopher Wallace Memorial Fund was established in 1995 through a generous bequest from the estate of Dr. C. Christopher Wallace. The fund supports costs associated with Affinity Health System employees traveling to third-world countries on medical missions.

Dr. C. Christopher Wallace Physician and Memorial Fund Application

Wallace Memorial Endowment grants of $4,000 assisting Affinity employees with participating in medical mission trips in 2010 were awarded to:

  • Linda Chapple to Alto Cayma, Peru
  • Leah Kiar to Arequipa, Peru
  • Noreen Voigt to Arequipa, Peru
  • Mary Williams to Arequipa, Peru

Wallace Physician’s Endowment grants of $2,000 were awarded to the following Affinity employees for participating in medical mission trips in 2010:

  • Dr. Gene Tipler to Oliveros, Guatemala
  • Larry Weigandt, SA, to Dominican Republic

Requirements:

  • All Affinity physicians, employees, and retired employees with 20 or more years of service are eligible for the corresponding grant opportunity [Wallace Physicians (Affinity physicians, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practioner) or Wallace Memorial (other Affinity employees)].
  • Must be a medical mission involving direct patient care in a third world country.
  • Expenses covered by grant include transportation, room and board for the duration of the mission – separate from any personal time added onto the mission trip. Immunization costs for immunizations obtained through Affinity’s Travel Clinic can be submitted for consideration.
  • Detailed documentation is required for reimbursement of expenses. If receipts detailing room and board within the mission cannot be separated, a letter from the sponsoring organization (on that organization’s letterhead, including address and phone information) confirming these expenses must be provided.
  • Cap of $1,000 for each grant.
  • One Wallace Fund Grant can be awarded per person each fiscal year (Oct. 1 – Sept. 30).
  • Preference is given to those who have not accessed grant funding previously, followed by consideration of the timing of the last grant awarded (e.g. those funded most recently are awarded last).
